Visit Their WebsiteOur song 'Albert's Place' released 10th February
Our song 'Alberts Place' written and performed by Welsh Signer/Songwriter Martyn Joseph. The track was specially commissioned by BBC Radio 2 - Mark Ratcliffe's 21st Century Folk Show, created by 7Digital selecting five North East People to have a song written about their story.
Our song, chronicling the amazing work by our staff and volunteers, each person has very special qualities and all contribute to the sucess of our charity. The track will be released for sale February 2023.
Our free food service in Sunderland is named Albert's Place after the building owner, once a shipping chandler and meat supplier to the ships that docked in Sunderland and a well-known Butcher who supported his community when times were hard. Martyn listened carefully to our words and created this beautiful and emotional track, describing our soup kitchen journey and the people we support.
Martyn and his team travelled after a long tour of America to our warehouse in Sunderland, freezing cold day and produced the video that simply speaks for itself, our work is very challenging at times and the song simply brought every wonderful second of our Soup Kitchen journey flooding back.
Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen will receive a percentage of the money from the sale of each track. We are so grateful to Martyn for creating this perfect song that will stay with us forever.
